Building lifecycle

A building's long service life begins at handover. We look after its maintenance, repairs and alterations after completion too.

When we have designed or built a property, its background information, the solutions used and the materials chosen stay on record with us. We know the structures, the products used and the building services. That cuts out unnecessary investigation and helps us carry out future maintenance, repairs and alterations with the whole building in mind.

We also work on buildings put up by others. In that case we go through the existing plans and documents, survey the current condition of the property and gather the background information needed before the work starts.

What the lifecycle service covers

  • Warranty-period inspections and agreed repairs
  • Maintenance and repair work
  • Alterations and extensions
  • Electrical system servicing, alterations and extensions
  • Keeping the building's records and documents up to date
  • Surveying the property before a larger renovation

The scope of the service is always defined to suit the building and what the client needs.

How the service works

  1. Get in touchTell us which building it is, what needs doing and how urgent it is. Photos and any existing plans help us assess the situation.
  2. BackgroundWe go through the information and documents available on the building. Where needed we visit the property and survey its current condition.
  3. Agreement and deliveryWe define what needs to be done and give a quote or cost estimate. The agreed maintenance, repair or alteration is carried out on the planned schedule.
  4. DocumentationWe record the work done, the products used and any significant changes in the building's records, for later maintenance and the next steps.

Frequently asked

Does the lifecycle service apply only to buildings you built?

No. On our own design and contracting projects the background information we need is already available to us. On buildings put up by others we survey the starting point and go through the existing plans and documents before the work begins.

What information about the building do you keep?

As agreed, we keep the project's plans, details of the products and materials used, and the essential information on the maintenance, repairs and alterations carried out. The records are updated in relation to the work we do, so they are available for future needs too.

Does this require an ongoing contract?

Not necessarily. Maintenance, repair and alteration work can be ordered as individual commissions when needed. If you prefer, we can also agree regular inspections and preventive maintenance.

Do you handle warranty-period work and annual repairs?

Yes. On our own contracting projects we carry out the agreed warranty inspections, annual repairs and the repairs that fall within our responsibility. We also carry out maintenance and repair work on buildings built by others as separate commissions.
